The Review of the Development of Local Curriculum and Its Reconstruction in the New Era

Local curriculum is both an integral part of the basic education curriculum system and a major step forward in the reform of the basic education curriculum in China.Its development has roughly been through four stages and has made considerable progress,but there are still some problems left.In the basic education curriculum system,local curriculum is a weak link.The review of the development of local curriculum should focus on the target of the curriculum The key is to re-examine"locality".It may be useful to consider"local knowledge" as one of the curriculum supporting theories.However,it is also necessary to proceed from the Chinese culture and keep pace with the times,clarify the relationship between "nationality","ethnicity"and"locality","integration" and "diversity","common ground" and "difference",and grasp the relationship between national curriculum and local curriculum.We should restructure the local curriculum based on the"locality" and transcend it,incorporate the local curriculum into a higher-level education system,explore the way in which the local curriculum implements the fundamental tasks of fostering virtue through education,and rectify the purpose of the local curriculum.
