General Senior High School Curriculum Standards:English(2017 Edition) advocates an English learning activity theory(ELAT) based on the integration of "six elements"."Comprehensive and focused",which is a major principle in the implementation of the "Comprehensive Approach to Reading Instruction",offers a solution to the implementation of the ELAT.The classroom practice of English reading instruction should focus on the exploration of the theme guided by the following three principles:"Start with the end in mind":developing the students' thinking disposition using well-threaded questions."Input for the sake of output":valuing the appropriate choice of instructional content."Image the big from the small":exploring the meaning for a "big question".Based on a research lesson, three strategies are proposed:integrating the textual information and reconstructing the textual clues;encouraging autonomous learning outcomes and making full use of scaffolding strategy;and focusing on activity aim and promoting competency transformation.
