Semantic and Pragmatic Analysis of English Verb Infinitives

Luo Mingjiang;
When the infinitives of English verbs are complements in English causative sentences, the forms of them will change to a certain extent. Some verbs are followed by an infinitive with to,and some verbs are followed by an infinitive without "to". The event expressed in the infinitive clause may be carried out at the same time or not at the same time as the event expressed by the main verb. In this paper, the semantic and pragmatic factors of an infinitive with "to" and without "to" are analyzed from the diachronic perspective and the structures of perception and causative verbs.
