Frequency and Power Spectrum Estimation of Harmonic Signals by the Fourth-order Cumulants

For general representation of harmonic signal, the corresponding Yule-Walker equation and the frequency estimation method are derived from the fourth-ordor cumulants. Based on the insensitivity of the fourth order cumulants to Gaussian noises, the frequencies and power spectrum of the signals are correctly estimated under the contamination of the additive white or color noise. The simulation results show that the proposed method has a higher accuracy even in the color noise.
