XIA Rubing;TONG Xiao;Institution of Chinese Agricultural Civilization,Nanjing Agricultural University;
The spatial and temporal characteristicsof the sericulture industry are consistent with those of the sericulture books in ancient China. Before the Northern Song Dynasty,sericulture books mostly came from the Yellow River Basin. In the Southern Song Dynasty,the number of sericulture books in south China exceeded that of the north for the first time. In the early period of the Yuan Dynasty,the number of sericulture books in the Yellow River Basin increased apparently. During the Ming and Qing Dynasties,Jiangsu and Zhejiang provinceshad become the publishing centersof the sericulture books. Meanwhile,China's sericulture industry had undergone a similar changing trajectory for which the centers were in the Yellow River Basin before the Song Dynasty,were moved gradually to the south China in the South Song Dynasty and completely to the south of Yangtze River in the Ming and Qing Dynasties. However,the sericulture production in north China was still in the financial straits.
