On the development and prospect of multiwave multicomponent seismology

Xu Liping 1 , Yang Qinyong 2 (1 Institute of Planning and Design, Northwest Petroleum Bureau of New Star Petroleum Corporation under SINOPEC, Urumchi 830011,China; 2 Institute of Geophysical Prospecting for Petroleum,SINOPEC Research Institute
With the advance of offshore converted wave exploration, multiwave multicomponent seismic technologies, including shooting and data receiving, processing as well as interpretation, has been developed rapidly. Offshore multiwave multicomponent seismic which is featured by exploration techniques of converted waves has been brought into massive production, resulting in great improvement of imaging quality in areas with poor P wave data and prediction accuracy of reservoirs and hydrocarbon accumulations. However, there is much work to do for use of multiwave multicomponent seismology in land seismic exploration.
