Fades Controlling Modeling of Sulige Gas Field and Prediction for Favorable Reservoirs

Sulige Gas Field has a gas-bearing area of thousands of square kilometers. With large variations in borehole diameter and reservoir properties, the dynamic production state shows that the sedimentary microfacies apparently controls distribution of favorable reservoirs. The study is made on the geometric parameters of the ancient rivers in this region and the facies controlling modeling technology is used to predict the reservoirs in Sulige region. In the modeling process, the selected width-thickness ratio of sand body ranges between 45-80 while the main direction of channel ranges in the -10°-20° scope. In the random modeling process, a number of geological parameters such as sandstone density, the proportion of sand bodies of various thickness, cyclicity, the width and thickness ratio of sand body and the position of effective reservoir space are considered as the restricting and controlling conditions for the random geological model. The results of facies controlling modeling reflect distribution of favorable reservoirs and are in line with the dynamic production state.
