Hydrocarbon Accumulation Analysis of G4-188 Block in North Gabon Subbasin of Gabon Coastal Basin

Li Yanchen Guo Nianfa//Sinopec International Petroleum Exploration and Production Corporation,Beijing 100083
The G4-188 block is located in the north Gabon subbasin in the passive continental-margin rift basin in the coast of Gabon. The Mesozoic Cretaceous is the main petroliferous series, with the sedimentary thickness ranging from 6000m to 10000m.In the early-rift period, continental fluvial and lake facies deposits were formed.Apart from this, thick salt rocks and passive regional source rocks were formed. The Azile,Anguille, and Point Clairette Formations are marine deposits.Mudstones in the Azile and Anguille Formations belong to regional source rocks. In the block, reservoirs developed,of which the sandstones of the Point Clairette Formation are the best. The average porosity is between 13.4% and 23.22%,as well as the average permeability is ranging from 4.15mD to 120.15mD.So the oil and gas sealing conditions are favorable in the block. There are three oil and gas accumulation assemblages in the block and they are distributed in five petroliferous.Among this, the WZ oil and gas structural zone is most favorable for forming traps, while the OZ structural zone takes the second place.
