SYNTHESIS AND CHARACTERIZATION OF PILLARED MONTMORILLONITE

This paper employs several methods to synthesize Keggin ioas,and finds the fitting acidi-ty and alkalinity-mild or medium alkalinity to synthesize stable Keggin ions. These pillared agentsare used to synthesize the pillared montmorillonite with basal interlayer spacing 2. 4~2. 5nm. Thepillared montmorillonite was identified by XRD, IR, and DTA in this paper. The surface physico-chemical properties were determined by BET and Py-IR. The results have shown that it is suitableto use Keggin ions to synthesize the pillared montmorillonite with basal interlayer spacing 2. 4~2. 5nm, and after incandescing at 35OC, the basal interlayer spacing is stabilized 1. 8nm, with alarger space surface area and a Lewis acidity centre.
