GEOSTATISTICS AND ITS APPLICATION IN YUANJIANG GOLD DEPOSIT

Geostatistics is a new cross discipline subject developed in recent forty years. It was introduced into our country in 1977 and was given much attention. But it hasn't been used widely for number reasons. The program of special software has been the major reason. The researchers at Kunming University of Science Technology programmed the Deposit Mathematics Economy Modeling software. As a method of reserve estimation and economical evaluation of the deposit, the software has been used widely for its advance and utility. In the Dachang tin mine of Guangxi, the Yuanjiang gold mine, Yimen copper mine, Dayao copper mine and Jinning Phosphorus mine of Yunnan Province, and so on, there have yielded remarkable results. In this paper, on the basis of the theory and development of geostatistics, the functions of each model of the software are discussed and the software application is introduced by taking the Yuanjiang gold mine for example. The mathematical model of the Yuanjiang gold deposit is composed of surface model, rock model and grade model. It is established by taking gold grade as regionalized variables. With the model, gold reserves and mean grades are estimated. In the Yuanjiang gold mine, primary orebody occurs in thinner vein, mining has a high povertilized rate, a low lixiviating rate and costs a lot, while oxidized ore is easily exploited and lixiviated, with low cost and good benefit on a large scale. So exploiting the oxidized ore should be in the first place. And with the improvement of technology in ore dressing and smelting and the reduction of cost, the boundary grade can be depressed. Through establishing deposit model to optimize industrial targets and recalculate reserves, the gold reserve has been increased by about 10 tons.
