STRUCTURE CHARACTERISTICS OF COPPER ION-MODIFIED PALYGORSKITE AND ITS ANTIBACTERIAL PROPERTIES

Modified palygorskite by copper ion(Cu~(2+)) with the liquid ion-exchanged method was studied in this paper.The optimal technological parameters of modification are determined through orthogonal design: the concentration of the initial reactant is 0.02 mol/L,the temperature of the reaction is 95 ℃,and the duration of modification is 6 hours under atmosphere pressure.The antibacterial inhibition ratio to Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus of palygorskite modified by Cu~(2+) can reach 87.3% and 82.2%,respectively.As an experimental result of X-ray diffraction,FT IR spectroscopy and Transmission electron microscope observations and analysis,the primary crystal structure of copper ion-modified palygorskite is similar to that of palygorskite,whereas the crystallinity of copper modified palygorskite is reduced,the crystal grains are easier to disperse,the surface is of more roughness and the length is shorter.
