MORPHOLOGICAL INVESTIGATIONS OF THE BASSINITES BY ELECTRONIC MICROSCOPE AND THEIR FORMATION MECHANISM ANALYSIS

Dehydration experiments were carried out to prepare bassinite from well crystallized natural gypsum.With the different techniques,α bassinte and β bassinite were prepared from gypsum respectively.Electronic microscopic observation clearly shows that the two bassnites are very different from each other in morphology.As a result of the study,combined with XRD patterns,their formation mechanims are analysized.It is concluded that it is the difference of β bassinite from α bassinte in crystallinity that causes a higher trannformation temperature of β bassinite to insoluble anhydrite through soluble anhydrite than that of α bassinite.
