DISTRIBUTION AND RISK ASSESSMENT OF POLYCYCLIC AROMATIC HYDROCARBONS IN THE SURFACE SEDIMENTS FROM THE INTERTIDAL ZONE IN GAOSHALING AREA,TIANJIN

Concentrations of PAHs in the surface sediments collected from the intertidal zone of southern Bathing Beach,Tianjin were quantitatively analyzed,and their distribution characteristics and possible sources were discussed.The results showed that the range of PAHs concentrations in the sediments was 91.4×10-9~955.4×10-9,and the general characteristics of PAHs distribution were highmiddlelow-tidal flats.In all detected PAHs,the concentrations of 2 and 3 ringed PAHs compounds were most dominant and the main source of PAHs in the studying area might be petroleum-derived contamination mixed with incomplete combustion of the fossil fuel.According to sediment quality criterion,the concentration of naphthalene,fluorine,phenanthrene and anthracene exceed the risk low(ERL)values,which might possess certain potential toxic effect to the ecosystem intertidal zone.So,the artificial source of PAHs should be controlled strictly so as to protect the environment of intertidal zone.
