Geochemical Characteristicsand Genetic Type of Natural Gases in Eastern Kuqa Depression,Tarim Basin

Kuqa depression is one of the important natural gas sources in Tarim Basin,which is rich in oil and gas resources. However,the researchers haven't reached an agreement on the hydrocarbon accumulation in Kuqa depression. So,the gas composition,carbon isotope,light hydrocarbon and genetic types in the region has been carried on the detailed analysis,by the study of the geochemical characteristics of approximately 600 natural gas samples. The study found that the hydrocarbon components of the natural gases in eastern Kuqa Depression were dominated by methane with low heavy hydrocarbon,and the non-hydrocarbon gases were mainly composed of N2,contained a small amount of CO2. The carbon isotopes characteristics of natural gases showed the natural gases was organic causes of alkane gases mainly at the high-post mature stage and had a certain homology. The carbon isotope order of the natural gases in the eastern Kuqa Depression were mainly normal order,except for some were reverse ordered. Thus,by the comprehensive analysis of the geochemical characteristics of natural gases,it can be seen,the natural gases in the region is partially coal-formed gases with a small amount of mixture of coal-formed gases and oil-related gases,or the mixture of gases from two source rock intervals of the same type but of different maturity or mixture of gases from one source rock interval of varying maturity.
