Distribution Characteristics of Available Sulfur Content in Soils of Spartina alterniflora Tidal Flat and Mudflat in Jiaozhou Bay

In order to explore the characteristics of vertical distribution and seasonal variation of soil available sulfur in Spartina alterniflora tidal flat and mudflat of Jiaozhou Bay, soil samples were gathered in Spartina alterniflora zone and mudflat respectively on April 28, July 15, September 6, and December 5, 2015. Soil available sulfur contents, organic matter contents, p H, water contents, salinity, and unit weight were measured and analyzed. The results showed that the contents of soil available sulfur were 625.82-680.06 mg/kg in Spartina alterniflora tidal flat, while they were 564.02-705.43 mg/kg in mudflat. And in vertical direction the contents were decreasing gradually when the soil depths increased. Soil available sulfur contents in Spartina alterniflora zone had fluctuations on different sampling days, 625.82 mg/kg on April 28, 680.06 mg/kg on July 15,672.90 mg/kg on September 6, and 642.69 mg/kg on December 5, while soil available sulfur contents in mudflat zone were 705.43 mg/kg on April 28, 680.30 mg/kg on July 15, 641.19 mg/kg on September 6, and 564.02mg/kg on December 5. Soil available sulfur contents in mudflat had significantly positive correlations with organic matter contents(p0.05) and salinity(p0.01), and had significantly negative correlations with p H(p0.01). Soil available sulfur contents in Spartina alterniflora zone had significantly positive correlations with organic matter contents and salinity(p0.01), and had significantly negative correlations with p H(p0.01). Soil available sulfur contents in the two zones were affected chiefly by organic matter contents, salinity, and p H of soil.
