The Environmental Effect of Compound Material Consisting of Nanometer Sized TiO_2 and Natural Minerals

This paper has systematically summarized the present situation of study and application of compound materials consisting of nanometer sized TiO_2 and natural minerals and emphatically introduced types of minerals carrying nanometer sized TiO_2 and the environmental applications of the compound material.Four types of minerals including oxides,sheet silicates, framework silicates and diatomite have been discussed.The sheet silicates have been especially discussed.The compound material consisting of nanometer sized TiO_2 and natural minerals is mainly applied for degrading organic pollutants(such as organic dye,phenol,methyl orange,methylene blue,2-chlorphenol,DDVP,HCH,DDT,DDE,DDD,trans-and cis-chlordane etc.) to unharmful and intoxic small molecule compounds(such as carbon dioxide and water) without secondary pollution.The degradation effect of the compound material consisting of nanometer sized TiO_2 and natural minerals is better than that of the TiO_2 itself.Thus,this compound material has very good potential for environmental application.
