Mineral-Chemistry Characteristics and Tectonic Significance of p-T Path of Metamorphic Rocks in Danba Area

Danba area is located in the central part of Songpan-Ganzi orogenic belt. Themajor metamorphic period occurs between late Indosinian stage and middle Yanshan stage,which is related to regional dynamothermal metamorphism. In terms of mineral paragenesis,the metamorphic rocks can be subdivided into six metamorphic zones: sillimanite zone,kyanite zone, staurolite zone,garnet zone, biotite zone and sericite-chlorite zone.The garnet zoning is thought to result from continuous growth. The p-T path can beused to relate mineral growth to tectonic processes. Temperatures estimated from Fe-Mg distribution between garnet and biotite range from 520 to 620℃. Pressures estimated from garnet-plagioclase-kyanite-quartz equilibria range from 0. 42 ̄6. 7GPa. The p-T condition canindicate the peak metamorphic conditon. The p-T path of metamorphism shows clockwisecharacter which is similar to that of continental collision orogenic belt.
