Flow Stress Behavior of AM60 Magnesium Alloy during Hot Compression Deformation at Elevated Temperatures

Hot compression tests of AM60 magnesium alloy were performed on Gleeble-1500 at strain rates ranging from 0.0005 s~(-1) to 0.5 s~(-1) and deformation temperature ranging from 250 ℃ to 450 ℃.The results show that the flow stress behaviors strongly depend on the deformation temperature and strain rate,which can be demonstrated by a Zener-hollomon parameter in the hyperbolic-sine-type equation during hot compression deformation.In the present study,the hot deformation activation energy is 190 kJ/mol and the stress exponent is 7.2 during the hot compression deformation of AM60 magnesium alloy.
