APPLICATION OF SILVER TO CATALYSING OF BACTERIAL LEACHING OF COPPER ORE

Chalcopyrite is one of difficult to leach copper minerals. Dexing copper ore contains mainly chalcopyrite. In oxidation leaching of chalcopyrite from Dexing copper ore using thiobacillus ferrooxidans, at Ag dosoges of 0 16 g/kg and 0 32 g/kg of feed the leaching ratio (for 21 days) can be increased from 28 2% in the absence of Ag to 77 5% and 79 7%, respectively. The catalystic effect of silver may be explained by the fact that changes in electrochemical properties of sulfides have led to electrochemical reactions. The XRD of leached residues indicates that there is Ag 2S forming on the sarface of minerals. Strains for ore leaching can be obtained by breeding. The strains have an Ag tolerance of 10 mg/L.
