Promoting Systematic Design and Innovation-driven Development for Modern Fishery

Modern fishery is the redefinition of the role of traditional fishery in the development of national economy, constructing national food safety guarantee system based on the coordination of land and sea with farming, forestry, and animal husbandry. The development of modern fishery is of great significance to expand new spaces and resources, and to ensure the national food safety. This paper presents the analysis on the developmental situation of fishery in China from the aspects of coastal environment, fishery resources, fishing, aquaculture, and aquatic product processing, and so on. It is also described for the development concept of realizing the modern fishery industrial transformation and upgrading through the systematic design of industry chain, problem chain, innovation chain, task chain, and value chain. From the aspects of important scientific issues, significant technical bottleneck, and the four innovation engineerings, the innovation-driven way is explained to realize the leaping development of modern fisheries. The thoughts and suggestions are put forward for the development of modern fisheries, aiming to provide references for China's modern fishery science and technology innovation and industrial development.
