To explore the situation of methicillin_resistance staphylococcus(MRS)infection and its susceptibility in neonates. The samples include 80 blood cultures,34 pus and 50 sputum from 1998 to 2001.The MRS was identified with BACTEC_9120 automatic microbiology system. The results showed that the MRS isolations in blood and sputum are signi_ficantly higher(P0.01)than that in pus, with 69% and 60% in blood and sputum, and 41% in pus.We also isolated 56% of MRSA and 80% of S.Epidermis in sputum. All the 99 MRS isolates were resistant to β_lactam antibiotics. All these isolates were sensitive to vancomycin and imipenem. The isolates partially sensitive to rifampin,ciprofloxacin,trimethopim/sulfamethoxaole;the isolates were poorly sensitive to erythromycin and clindamycin. The conclusion suggests that MRS strains have become the major cause of neonates' infection and there is a trend of the increase of coagulase_negative staphylococcus.
