The prognostic effects of parenchymal and ventricular blood Volume in supratentorial brain hemorrhage

Jin Yongqing, et al. Nanjing Military Region General Hospital, NanJing, 210002.
We retrospectively studied 110 conservatively treated cases with supratentorial brain hemorrhage. The stady indicated that the prognosis in thalamic hemorrhage, was highly correlated, with the ventricular blood volume (V), the total blood volume (P+V), and the parenchymal blood volume (P). For putaminal hemorrhage, the prognosis was not correlated with the ventricular blood volume, but highly correlated-with the parenchymal and the total blood volume. For all hemorrhages, the prognosis was significantly correlated with. Patients the condition during admission, the parenchymal blood volume, the ventricular blood volume, the total blood volume, the systolic blood pressure, the pulse pressure and the age. The parenchymal blood volume larger than 70ml, or the ventricular blood volume larger than 25 ml denoted poor prognosis. The authors also discussed the strategies of therapy in supratentorial brain hemorrhages.
