Effects of different health education modes on cognitive function of schizophrenics

Objective To explore effects of neotype health education mode on cognitive function of schizophrenics.Methods 120 first-episode hospitalized schizophrenics were randomly divided into two groups(each n=60),research group were given routine pharmacotherapy plus neotype health education mode and control group plus traditional health education for 8 weeks.Cognitive functions of two groups were assessed with the Cancellation Test(CT)and the Wisconsin Card Sorting Test(WCST)and contrastive analyses conducted within the 1st week and at the end of the 8th week.Results There were no significant differences in all indices of both the CT and the WCST before health education(P0.05);at the end of the 8th week,the CT net scores were significantly higher and error rates lower for both groups compared with pre-health-education,and so were in the research group compared with control group(P0.01);according to the WCST,total trials,perseverative and random errors decreased and correct trails and Categories increased for both groups compared with pre-health-eduction,so did in the research group compared with the control group(P0.01).Conclusion The neotype health education mode can significantly improve cognitive function of schizophrenics and is conducive to rehabilitation of cognitive function.
