New Recluse and Tao Yuanming of Recluse as Well Irrecluse

Gao Yuan (Department of the Chinese Language and Literature, Lanzhou teachers college, Lanzhou730070)
Guo Xiang, a metaphysicist of the East Tsin Dynasty, held that all creatures are limited in their own way and that to reach this limit and unity is to be free and self-suffi cient. From this the traditional "seclusion" reversed to "ordinary seclusion in woods and true seclusion in cosmopolitans". Related to this is the seclusion of the great Tsin poet Tao Yuanming who chose pastoral life of tilling and reading to obtain his unity.
