On the Genesis of the Xitieshan Multimetal Ore Deposit
The xitieshan mine is a large lead-zinc deposit with ores containning also an enormous amount of gold, silver and other scarce and scattered elements. The complexity of the geology causes a dversity of hypotheses about its Genesis. None of the explanations available, whether telethermal, volcanogenic-metamorphosd or strata-bound, is in good consistency with the geological facts there. On the basis of detailed field work and a geological comparison, the present author suggests that the xitieshan mine should be of epigenetic origin prodnced by mesotherml ore fluids derived from the same source as the volcanic rocks in the ore-containning sequences.
