Spatial distribution of precipitation in the Loess Plateau region

The spatial distribution of precipitation in the Loess Plateau region was evaluated with eight statistical modeling methods.Through validation,it was found that the global polynomial interpolation was the optimal method to simulate the spatial distribution of mean annual precipitation and the local polynomial interpolation method was the best one to simulate the spatial distributions of precipitation in July and the ratio of precipitation in 6—9 months to annual precipitation.It could be concluded from the approach that the distribution of annual precipitation in the study region is not uniform and the trend shows a decrease of precipitation from the southeast to the northwest(from 700 mm to 120 mm).Generally speaking,the ratio of precipitation in 6—9 months to annual precipitation increases gradually from the south to the north;the precipitation in July decreases from the southeast(150 mm) to the northwest(40 mm).
