In an acidic medium, silver (I) reacts with p-dimethylaminobenzylidenerhodanine forming a stable complex which in the presence of appropriate amount of anionic surfactant can be filtered and spreaded evenly on a filter paper of definite diameter. Based on this phenomenon, a solid-phase reflective-diffusion spectropho tometric method for the determination of silver is developed. The reflective absorption is determined at the wavelength of 595nm. The limit of detection of the method is 0. 05μg ·ml~(-1) and its RSD is 3.0%. The proposed method has been applied to the analysis of geological samples with satisfactory results.
