FAAS DETERMINATION OF THALLIUM IN ENVIRONMENTAL SAMPLE AFTER ITS SEPARATION BY ADSORPTION ON ACTIVE CARBON

FAAS method is suitable to be used for the determination of thallium in environmental samples. To avoid the interference of co-existing and interfering elements in the sample, thallium ion was preconcentrated and separated by adsorption on active carbon from a HCl (15+85) medium, and then Tl(Ⅲ) in the form of Cl~- anion complex was desorbed with 0.5g·L~(-1) ammonium oxalate solution. Recoveries obtained were in the range of 95.2%~114.0%. The detection limit of the method was found to be 0.21μg·ml~(-1) (3σ) and the RSD′s to be less than 25%. In the application of the method to the analysis of slag and polluted soil samples, the results obtained were in consistency with those obtained by ICP-MS, and the RSD′s obtained were less than 4.2%.
