Significance of Metallothioneins on study of Liver Bears the Depressive Effect

Metallothioneins(MT) is a group of lower molecular weight metal-binding proteins characterized by containing abundant of cysteine and were synthesied in the liver of mammal,which are thought to be participated in storage,metabolize and transfer of essential metal elements,also detoxifcate of heavy metals,elimination of free radicals,stress reaction,embryonic development,regulation of cellular metabolization,internal secretion and formation of tumor.MT is a cell protective factor,and its synthesize could be inducted in tissue regeneration development process,exogenous and endogenous factors.In theory of Traditional Chinese Medicine,liver has the function of "liver bears the depressive effect",which is believed to be the major organ of restraint stress,the relation between MT and "liver bears the depressive effect" was investigated in this article by referencing the connecting of the two facors which had the significance for explaining the scientific of connotative meaning of "liver bears the depressive effect".
