Gastric mucosal injury is a very common complication during the perioperative period, which plays a great role in the initiation and progression of multiple organ dysfunction syndrome(MODS). A large number of clinical trials and animal experiments have demonstrated the protective effect of stress gastric mucosal injury induced by EA at Zusanli(ST36),the mechanism of which may be by means of reducing gastric acid secretion, increasing gastric mucus layer and mucosal thickness, inhibiting the reactive of inflammatory mediators, regulating the gastric motility and gastric electrical activity, recovering gastric mucosal injury and regulating the body ET-1 / NO and CGRP / PGE2 endogenous levels. Based on the Chinese medicine ancient literature and according to clinical trials and animal experiments in the recent years,we have concluded research progress in mechanism of gastric mucosal membrane protection induced by EA at Zusanli(ST36).
