Wear mechanism of magnesia-spinel brick used in transition zone of large dry-process cement rotary kiln

The magnesia-spinel bricks(LMLJ-80)used in the transition zone of large dry-process cement rotary kiln were analyzed by macroscopic observation,physical analysis,XRD,SEM and EDAX analysis.The wear mechanism of magnesia-spinel brick was discussed.The results showed that the main wear mechanism could be the structure spalling and thermal spalling caused by the deposition of alkali salts and temperature fluctuation.Therefore,improving toughness and spalling resistance is the main measure to improve the life of magnesia-spinel bricks used in the transition zone of large dry-process cement rotary kiln.
