Study on preparation and properties of mullite-aluminum titanate kiln furniture

Mullite-aluminum titanate composite(ATM) was prepared by in-situ synthesis.Mullite-aluminum titanate kiln furniture was prepared using ATM and sintered mullite(M60) as main starting materials.Effects of firing temperature and ATM content on properties and microstructure of mullite-aluminium titanate high temperature kiln furniture were investigated by means of XRD,SEM and hot simulation test.The results showed that:ATM was suitable for preparing high temperature kiln furniture.The kiln furniture specimens fired at 1 600 ℃ had higher high temperature bending strength and excellent thermal shock resistance.The prepared kiln furniture had good comprehensive properties when ATM content was 45%.Hot simulation test showed that the prepared mullite-aluminium titanate high temperature kiln furniture was suitable used below 1 400 ℃ and lower than 8 kg load bearing.
