Ku Hongming's Translation of Lunyu in the Light of Translation as Adaptation and Selection

Bian Lihong,Yao Zhifen (College of Foreign Language,CSUST,Changsha Hu'nan 410076,China)
Hu Gengshen's An Approach to Translation as Adaptation and Selection, theoretically propped by "Adaptation and Selection"in Darwin's theory of evolution, describes the translator's translational eco-environment and proposes the idea of "Translation as Adaptation and Selection".This provides a new perspective to translation studies.A conclusion can be drawn that, after analyzing Ku Hongming's multi-dimensional adaptation and selection in translating Lunyu, translator should strive to adapt himself\herself to the translational eco-environment and choose appropriate translation strategy in translating Chinese ancient classics,so as to promote the world-wide influence of Chinese traditional culture.
