PIV/PTV two-phase flow measurement technique based on image separation

This paper introduces a combined PIV/PTV two-phase flow measurement technique based on image seperation(phase separation) and reconstruction.An algorithm is developed to separate low density solid particle images and tracing particles from a two-phase particle picture.Then PTV and PIV technique are applied to calculate the velocity fields of solid particles and tracing particles respectively.The results showed high accuracy in the test.The algorithm was examined on synthetic two-phase shearing flow and rotating flow.And an experiment of liquid-solid impinging jet flow was also conducted as a practised demostration.The results confirmed that the two-phase flow measurement algorithm proposed in present study has good performance and reliability.
