Assessment of Superheater Tube's Residual Life by Pipes Inside Oxide Layer Thickness

The superheater pipe of the boiler runs for a long period under high temperature and high pressure. As a result, its structure and performance tend to deteriorate and eventually it becomes useless when it explodes. By measuring the inside oxide layer thickness of pipe utilizing nondestructive testing technique, pipe metal operation equivalent temperature can be calculated. Then the pipe surplus life can be worked out through parameters such as the stress of the pipe, thickness of tube wall and so on. This can effectively prevent pipes from blowing up as a result of overheat and can help identify tubes that should be replaced.
