Effect of Mullite on Property of Aluminium Titanate

Aluminum titanate is an excellent inorganic non-metal material with high melting point and low expansion.However,its low expansion due to a prominent thermal expansion anisotropy tends to cause cracks in the sintered bodies,making it difficult to obtain a high-density and strong.In order to improve its strength and to suppress its thermal decomposition,this paper uses mullite as additives,to research the content’s effect on the materials.The result shows that the material has optimum integrated property when weight content of mullite is 12%.The thermal expansion is 1.65×10-6/℃, and the sthrengh is 59 MPa.
