EFFECTS OF VA MYCORRHIZAE ON THE GROWTHMINERAL NUTRITION AND WATER RELATIONS OF CHERRY (CERASUS PSEUDOCERASUS G.DON)

Lui Runjin(Dept. of Hort., LAC) Luo Xinshu (Shandong Agric.Univ.)
This paper reports effects of VA mycorrhizae (Glomus epigaeum G.macrocarpum) on the growth, mineral nutrition and water relation of pedlings of cherry(Cerasus pseudocerasus). The plants were grown in pots with the sterilized soil and inoculated by the VA mycorrhizal fungi. The growth of the plants was stimulated significantly, the absorptions of mineral elements Viz. P、K、Ca、Mg、Cu、Mn、Zn and were increased by 3—134 fold respectively, the stomatal conduction and transpiration rate of leaves was also increaed, whereas the permanent wilting percentage (PWP) was decreased to 67% of the control by the infection of VA mycorrhizal fungi. The effectiveness of VA mycorrhizae inoculation on the plants varied with the inocula.
