INTRODUCTION OF GUS AND TCS GNES INTO WHEAT VIA THE POLLEN--TUBE PATHWAY

Guo Baotai Xia Liansheng Qu Yongmei Sun Shimeng (Department of Agronomy, LAC)  
GUS and TCS (trichosanthin) genes were introduced into wheat via the pollen-tube pathway. Three wheat plants containing foreign TCS gene were detected from 125 plants tested. The transgenic plants were characterized by polymerase chain reaction analysis using two 24bp primers homolous to TCS gene. The result shows that the pollen tube pathway is suitable for genetic transformation of wheat cultivars.
