Objective:To study the immunomodulating, antitussive and expectorant effects of Gypenosides. Methods:Cough model was induced by citric acid in guinea pig,and phenol red expectoration test. Carbon clearance test was used. Results:The tests showed that Gypenosides had significant antitussive effect on guinea pig induced by citric acid. Gypenosides could increase the index of K and α in carbon clearance test, increased the weight of spleen and thymus. Conclusion:Gypenosides had significant antitussive and expectant effects, and could greatly enhance immunological function.
