Tribological Characteristics of Fe-Mo-Ni-Cu-Graphite High Temperature Self-Lubricating Composites

Fe-Mo-Ni-Cu-graphite high temperature self-lubricating composites which were derived from Fe-Mo-graphite self-lubricating composites were fabricated by powder metallurgy technology. Tribological properties were investigated on a high temperature tribometer with a pin-on-disc configuration at room temperature,320 ℃ and 450 ℃.Metallography microscopy, scanning electron microscopy and X-ray diffraction were utilized to characterize the microstructure,morphologies and phase composition of the composite. Experimental results show that the addition of Ni and Cu strengthened the matrix,enhanced mechanical properties,and improved the tribological properties of materials. The black composite lubricating film on the worn surface of Fe-Mo-Ni-Cu-graphite high temperature self-lubricating composites was responsible for the good tribological property at elevated temperature.
