Objective To investigate the role of p21~(WAF/cip) in non-small cell lung cancer(NSCLC).Methods The expression of p21~(WAF/cip) was detected in 80 NSCLC samples and 40 lung benign lesion tissues as control by immunohistochemistry(S-P).Results ①The expression level of p21~(WAF/cip) was found to be significantly higher in NSCLC tissues than in benign lesion tissues(P0.01);②The expression level of p21~(WAF/cip) was closely related to cancer cell differentiation and lymph node involvement in lung cancer patients(P0.05);but was not related to histological classification and P-TNM stages;③The expression level of p21~(WAF/cip) was closely related to lasting and heavy smoking. Conclusion p21~(WAF/cip) is may be closely related to the pathogenesis and development of lung cancer.
