The Theatric World in the Paintings of Jonas Burgert

Since the 1990 s,European figurative painting has achieved a great development and saw its profound changes.Among the figurative paintings of this time,exist not only the reflection of real life,but also the profound transformations in the formal language of pictures.Nowadays,European figurative painting has transformed its own pursuing of reappearance,plot,narrative and symbol in the realistic tradition since the Renaissance into reflection and criticism of social culture itself.In the wave of the revival of figurative painting,German artists account for a considerable proportion.Most of their works have a strong theatric sense,and the works of Jonas Burgert from west Berlin is representative of this inclination.Based on the concept of theatre,this paper analyses the presentation of formal language and the critical attitude in Burgert's works.
