Studies on High-Yield and Quality Cotton Cultivation Techniques of Double Plastic Multching in Saline alkaline Fields

An experiment conducted during 1993 ̄1996 showed that the newly established cultivation technique of fine-quality and high-yield with double plastic multching (DPMC) created an increase of 38.8% ̄42.5% in unit yield compared with currently used techniques on saline alkaline soil. A significant difference was proved by LSD. Unit yield of lint in DPMC demonstrated fields reached 224.5 ̄2350.8 kg·hm 2 , which set up a new record in Shandong. Double mulching could provide not only a better soil condition, but also a better micro-enviroment for plant up -part growth and development by the rise of temperature than single coverage. As result, the effects of DPMC on promotion of early development was significant. Application of DPMC in cotton fields could create both high photosynthetic massive body and reasonable boll-setting forms, therefore, could realize the target of fine-quality and high-yield of cotton.
