Immersion precipitation phase inversion membrane

New experimental and theoretical physical research related to the formation of polymer membranes by immersion precipitation of a polymer solution were reviewed. Special attention is paid to thermodynamics, phase transition (like liquid-liquid demixing, crystallization, gelation and vitrification), membrane formation mechanism and membrane morphology. Factors influencing membrane morphology such as polymer, polymer concentration, solvent/non-solvent, composition of casting soluting, composition of coagulation bath were also discussed in this paper.
