Analysis on Growth-development and Cytogenetics of Hybrid F_1 between E.canadensis×E.cylindricus

In order to investigate the fertility,cytogenetic basis and breeding potential for utilizing interspecific hybrid F1 between E.Canadensisand E.cylindricus,the growth,fertility,cytogenetic configuration were analyzed.The results showed that the growth rate of hybrids F1 was in the middle of parents,average height was 143.67cm,plant type was similar to E.canadensis,the number of leaves were bigger,over parent heterosis of the spike of F1 hybrids was distinct,pollen fertility rate was completely sterile,and seed set was 0;hybrid F1 is pentaploid(2n=5x=35),average chromosome pairing configurations at metaphaseⅠin pollen mother cells is 5.82I+14.31Ⅱ+0.15Ⅲ,and lagging chromosome and bridge fragment are observed at anaphaseⅠ,the cytogenetic reasons why hybrid F1 is sterile is that chromosome pairing behavior is irregular.The above results provide a basis for identification of hybrids,fertility restoration and selection of progenies.
