Influence of Cutting Leaves on 1000-Grain Weight of Different Type of the Source and Sink of Wheat Varieties

To investigate effects of canopy leaves on yield formation of wheat in Huanghuai region,at different growth periods(heading stage,flowering stage,a week after flowering,two weeks after flowering,three weeks after flowering,four weeks after flowering and maturing stage),the 1000-grain weight of different types of wheat varieties,the source –limited type Zhoumai 16 and the sink-limited type Baimai 1 were determined by cutting leaves from backward third leaf to flag leaf.The main results were as follows: generally,while cutting leaves at the earlier stages,relative 1000-grain weight decreased more;cutting leavies at the latter stages,relative 1000-grain weight decreased less.The relative 1000-grain weight of two varieties were all the highest while cutting leaves in four weeks after flowering;it was lowest while cutting leaves at flowering stage for Zhoumai 16 and at heading stage for Baimai 1.The number of cutting leaves significantly impacted relative 1000-grain weight of different varieties;more leaves were cut,1000-grain weight reduced more.The interaction of cutting leaves period and number of leaves cut significantly impacted relative 1000-grain weight.The relative 1000-grain weight of Zhoumai 16 was the highest while cutting the backward third leaf in three weeks after flowering,and the lowest while cutting the backward third leaf to flag leaf in flowering stage;The relative 1000-grain weight of Baimai 1 was the highest while cutting the backward third leaf in four weeks after flowering,and the lowest while cutting the the backward third leaf to flag leaf in heading stage.In general,reducing source impacted less for Baimai1 and more for Zhoumai 16.
