Porosity Features of Coal Deposits in Gaojiazhuang Block of Qinshui Basin

Base on the importance of the coal porosity features in the coal bed methane,a study on the coal samples of the seams in Gaojiazhuang Block of Qinshui Basin was conducted with the mercury injection test and the low temperature nitrogen adsorption test.The mercury injection test results showed that the coal deposits in the block could have the small porosities developed,big porosities and micro porosities well developed,and medium porosities most undeveloped double peak structural porosity features.The coal samples from the block would have similar micro porosity and the porosity variations of the coal samples were less.In the different coal samples,the small porosity volume not only had a high content,but the content would be similar.The middle porosity volume had a less content and had a high difference in the content in the coal samples.The large porosity volume had high different content.But there were no big difference in the total porosity volume content for each porosity.The low temperature nitrogen adsorption experiment showed that differences of specific surface area of each coal sample would be huge.The max difference could be 6.3 times.The differences of the small pore specific surface area for each coal samples would be high.The above features indicated that there was a big difference between the absorptions of each coal samples.
