Study on the adaptation modulation of underground mine multimedia wireless sensor network

Aiming at a simple multimedia monitoring scene in the underground coal mine,the adaptation modulation for multi-band orthogonal-frequency-division-multiplexing ultra-wideband(MB-OFDM-UWB) based underground multimedia wireless sensor network was studied,in order to optimize the maximum throughput of the system for a given bit error rate(BER).IEEE 802.15.3a was chosen as the channel model for MB-OFDM-UWB signals transmitted along mine tunnel.Firstly,the fixed threshold for multiple-quadrature-amplitude-modulation(MQAM) adaptive modulation was obtained from the simulation figures.Then,the adaptive modulation for grouped-subcarrier algorithms was simulated and analyzed where four types of signal-to-noise calculation method for grouped-subcarrier algorithms were adopted.Simulation results show that it is an efficient way to improve the system performance by applying adaptive modulation to MB-OFDM-UWB based underground multimedia wireless sensor network.
