RESEARCH ON SAMBUCUS CHINENSIS LINDL.AGAINST HEPATITIS

Five compositions are drawn from the Sambucus Chinensis Lindl.of Caprifoliaecae Sambucus.After identification,they are repectively ursolic acid,oleanolic acid α-amyrin,β-amyrin and β-sitosterol.Tests on animal and clinical experiments show that the ursolic acid is the main active component of Sambucus Chinensis Lindl.against hepatitis,and that it can apparently reduce Serum SGPT and hepatic triglyceride of the rats,whohad acute liver injary and damaged by the CCl 4.The tests also show the degeneration and necrosis of hepatic cells.121 patients with virus hepatitis are treated by ursolic acid,and the cure rate is 91.2 percent,which is superior to the control group (P0.01).
