Application of Kinetic Spectrophotometric Method for Determination of Enoxacin in Pharmaceutical Preparation

A simple and sensitive kinetic spectrophotometric method was proposed for the determination of enoxacin in pharmaceutical preparation sample.The method was based on the reduction of violet potassium permanganate by enoxacin in the alkaline medium at 40 ℃ to form green potassium manganate peaked at 608 nm and 526 nm.It was found that the absorbance at 608 nm linearly increased with concentration of enoxacin in the range of 0.3 to 2.1 mg·L-1,with the limit of detection of 0.03 mg·L-1 and 0.06 mg·L-1,respectively.The proposed method was applied to determination of enoxacin in pharmaceutical preparation samples with satisfactory results,which compared well with those obtained by HPLC method,as well as the claimed values.
